Red Line of Tel Avivi Light Rail, Israel

Metro/Light rail tunnel

In the Tel Avivi Metropolitan Area Mass Transit System, 6 specifically designed EPBMs from CREG were used to excavate the 11km Red Line tunnel. In order to keep pace with tunneling and realize the full potential of the EPBMs, CREG continuous horizontal and vertical conveyor systems were tailor-made and seamlessly combined to deliver the best mucking-out capacity.

With around 45% of the national population, the growing metropolis of Tel Aviv at the center of Israel’s largest urban area, Gush Dan, is considered a rail-based mass transit system. The planned 44km mass transit system consists of 33 stations, ten underground, with an average distance between them of just 500m, and an average of 1km between stations at ground level. Red Line, the western section of Tel Avivi Light Rail, includes two parallel 5.5km tunnels and six underground stations.
